What’s changing: Leaf and yard waste will continue to be collected weekly, but it must be set out
separately from your green bin in a reusable container labelled “Leaf and Yard Waste” or in brown paper
bags.
In addition, as part of the new contract, collection days for garbage, organics, leaf and yard waste, and
recycling may change for about half of Ottawa households. Please visit ottawa.ca/CollectionCalendar
to view your collection schedule. If you are affected by this change, you will see your updated collection
day on the week of March 30 and beyond. If you are signed up for weekly collection reminders, you can
continue to rely on them.
What you need to know:
As part of the transition to the new collection schedule, some households may experience a gap of three weeks with no garbage collection. To accommodate this disruption, all residents may place up to six garbage items at the curb on your scheduled garbage collection day between March 30 and April 24, 2026.
There will be no curbside collection on Good Friday, April 3, or Easter Monday, April 6; pick-up will be
delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Thank you for helping divert waste and supporting Ottawa’s move toward a zero-waste future.
Never miss collection day! if you do not already have a green bin, you can get one here.
Download the free Ottawa Collection Calendar app or sign up for email or phone reminders at
ottawa.ca/CollectionCalendar. You’ll also receive delay alerts.
Mailed collection calendars are being discontinued in 2027 to reduce waste.
