uOttawa Chancellor’s Lecture

Claudette Commanda, chancellor of the University of Ottawa, is honoured to invite you to attend an evening of learning and unity featuring renowned journalist and author Tanya Talaga.

A member of the Fort William First Nation, Tanya Talaga is a celebrated storyteller, journalist and author, with multiple best-selling publications in Canada. With over 20 years of journalistic experience, she has made significant contributions to sharing and promoting Indigenous narratives and perspectives nationwide.

Her presentation, Truth Before Reconciliation: The Opportunity in Front of Us, offers an in-depth reflection on difficult truths related to Indigenous history, encouraging audiences to move beyond symbolic gestures toward genuine understanding, accountability and concrete action.
